What do upcycling/repurposing/(materials) rescue mean, and how are they different? Why is this important?"Upcycling - (courtesy of Oxford Languages) to reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original. Repurposed - (courtesy of Oxford Languages) to adapt for use in a different purpose. Materials Rescue - (courtesy of Oxford Languages) to keep from being lost or abandoned; retrieve. The traditional linear economy is the model we are most familiar with. Materials are extracted in raw form, converted to a usable form, purchased, used, and discarded of into the landfill. This extractive, single-use flow of resources has resulted in the depletion of Earth's natural resources, overflowing landfills, and ecosystem degradation - all the while contributing significantly to climate change. Upcycling/repurposing/materials rescue transforms the linear economy into one that is circular, keeping materials in use for as long as possible during their productive lifecycle and, at the end of that lifecycle, transforming the material into a new product. This model, known as the circular economy, diverts materials from landfills and reduces extraction of natural resources. This model is better for the Earth, and better for humans.

Why are so many of your products made in small batches and available as limited edition items?Because our products are made from repurposed, upcycled, and rescued materials, our supply chain depends on the availability of such materials. Our product line made from upcycled bicycle tubing is not limited edition because there is an endless supply of punctured bike tubes for us to use. On the other hand, our textile items are dependent upon sourcing and are often released in small, limited edition batches.
